Tell us why you have the MEANest BEARD?
I've had some form of facial hair in one form or another for years now. It had always been just a goatee or a mustache until I had found out more about the "bearding community". Finding out that I could use my beard to give back to my community and charities through beard competitions or club events was a game changer for me. I instantly stopped shaving. As soon as I could, I started competing and have never looked back.

Tell us why you have the MEANest BEARD?
Grew my beard while in the Navy. I've had it long. I've had it short. A few years back a couple of friends wanted to see how long they could grow beards. I just never stopped. Both of my sons have grown beards also.

I started seriously growing my beard right before my youngest daughter was born. Not long after I met some like minded people on Facebook. They introduced me to charity beard competitions. The 1st one I ever attended instantly hooked me and for 2-3 years I went to every one I could manage. I even attended World's in Austin and got 5th in my group. I love supporting others with my face fur.

I have been a part of our community soccer league for 7 years and the beard has been a huge hit with all the kids in the community. I love when they run up and smile and ask questions about why my beard is so big.

Everyone who enters the contest will be added to the Photo Gallery of Contestants as their grouping is announced. Weekly groupings will come out up until everyone has been featured, which will be by the end of December. Due to the high volume of entries, we will group the entries into collages of 8 and announce groups weekly on MEAN NEWS. Make sure you come back to see more of the contestants!
