Tell Us A Bit About Yourself. (Career, Hobbies, Interests) I'm a 68 year old bearded man. My first experience with facial hair was sideburns in Jr. Hi. School. After Hi. School I joined the Air Force and was forced to cut off my facial hair. Being a rebel, I pushed the limits of what was allowed hair wise. I was successful in getting the hair code changed at my employment and in 1980 began my journey of bearding. In 2007 I quit cutting my beard to get ready for the 2009 "Worlds" in Alaska. It was then that I decided that I would never cut my beard again. My beard grew slowly for several years, and, in 2018 I had cancer removed and my beard started growing longer.
What's Your Motto / What Do You Stand For? My motto is borrowed from Aarne, it is: "Letting it grow until I step on it."
Tell Us Why You Have The MEANEST Beard? (Share An Interesting Story Behind Your Beard. We Want To Know Who The Man Behind The Beard Is.) My beard is the meanest because "we" have been through everything together. We suffered the death of family, Mom's dementia, cancer (4 kinds), divorce, profiled at the airport a couple of times. Terrorized a guy getting on the elevator and a poor little old lady.

Tell Us Why You Have The MEANEST Beard? (Share An Interesting Story Behind Your Beard. We Want To Know Who The Man Behind The Beard Is.) I am bearded because that is who I am. The beard life chose me. Being bearded is very unusual in our small community. The beard has caused the community to take a look at their preconceived notions of what bearded people are and see the amazing things we do for the community.

Tell Us Why You Have The MEANEST Beard? (Share An Interesting Story Behind Your Beard. We Want To Know Who The Man Behind The Beard Is.) My beard taught me how judgmental people are or can be. As well as how outdated corporate America is with standards; like individualism and pride. Growing my hair helped me recover the confidence that public ridicule and hair shaming robbed me from.
