My beard is my way of having fun. I love to smile and wave to people who surreptitiously looking at my beard in a subway. It makes my day, when I see that they are smiling too. I love to attend beard competitions, it makes my life more interesting and colorful. I love to be a part of the bearded community, there so many interesting people.

I kept a short, professional beard for years and decided to grow it out of curiosity to see how I'd look. I never expected it to get to this size and certainly never thought how comfortable I would feel with a beard like this. I firmly believe that every man grows the perfect beard for himself and the trick is to find out how to shape and style it to bring out the best.

One day I said why not let it grow and live to it's fullest. I once trimmed it down for a job interview and when looked in the mirror all I saw was a shrunken head. That won't ever happen again. It freaked me the hell out since it lives as I do!

I'm a homebody. I like to stay home in our backyard or woods. Until this year, I starting going to beard competitions. I have met and made good friends with people from a dozen states. I have found the beaded community to be great. All the competitions I've been to were for charity, from helping veterans to helping young girls succeed in life.

My Beard started as an accident, I never intended to grow a large beard. You start not shaving and all of a sudden here we are now part of an amazing bearded community. I love being stopped in the street be people interested in my beard and my bearded journey.

Everyone who enters the contest will be added to the Photo Gallery of Contestants as their grouping is announced. Weekly groupings will come out up until everyone has been featured, which will be by the end of December. Due to the high volume of entries, we will group the entries into collages of 8 and announce groups weekly on MEAN NEWS. Make sure you come back to see more of the contestants!
